The dress code is white PE kit and trainers. There is no need to buy racquets as all equipment will be provided.

Football

(Football Squad for years 5 and 6 takes place Monday nights from 3.45-4.45 on the school field. )

It involves a range of skills practice, games and a lot of fun. All year 5 and 6 children are welcome to participate, boys and girls.

Players who attend this session have a chance to be selected for the U10 and U11 football squads after Christmas. Mr Rich and Carlton Fairweather conduct the session, and children should wear their red games kit, football boots and shin pads if they have them. Mr Fairweather is a qualified FA coach and ex-premiership footballer who also offers sessions for other year groups.

Hockey

(The Sunderland High School Hockey club features on a Wednesday night and is open to all pupils in years 5 and 6.)

Pupils are encouraged to come along and develop their skills and knowledge of the game. In doing so it allows them to enhance their ability to play as a team and to overcome challenges from other local Independent schools.

Pupils attending the club will learn the rules and concepts of both High 5 netball and full 7-a-side. Alongside this, they will be able to develop individual and team skills to allow them to play competitive games against other local teams, in both the Independent and state sector.

Rugby

Year 4 (Thursday), Years 5 and 6 (Tuesday)
Junior School RugbyOnce a week we meet on the field, whatever the weather to improve our rugby skills. We begin with a warm up either through a team or individual drills or SAQ’s. Then we focus on a particular skill and how that skill is transferred into a game situation. Usually we end the session with either a team run through for match preparation or a mini-tournament. The sessions are full contact and follow the mini/midi rugby continuum set out by the RFU. The sessions are well attended by both girls and boys.

Magic Maths Club

Year 5 (Wednesday)

A small select group of children who meet every Wednesday to work on basic maths skills. The sessions are intended to build confidence in maths by revision of the four rules of number.
