SHS v Barnard Castle Tournament

Last Friday SHS played football and netball against Barnard Castle School and what a terrific afternoon of sport it was!

The girls were rightfully victorious, defeating Barnard Castle's A and B teams 3-1 and 4-1. Both were exciting and action packed games. Thanks to Samantha, Becky, Naini, Alice, Ruth, India, Lauren, Louise, Ellie and Ruth. Well done to Samantha for scoring five goals that afternoon along with Lauren who scored two.

At the same time, two fantastic football matches were being played. Gabriel, Chris, Luke E, Luke C, Karanveer, Navrash, Ptrick and Koosha defeated Barnard Castle 4-3 with skilful goals from Chris, Luke E, Luke C with Luke finally netting the eventual winner. The other game resulted in a 0-0 draw, perhaps one of the most thrilling 0-0 draws spectators could ever hope to see! Thanks to Marc, Michael, Amir, Sam, Robbie P, Robbie F, BJ and Blake. Thank you also to Mr Smith, Mr Rich, Mr Gardner, Mrs Hill and Miss Eden for their time, coaching and support.

Sir Ewan Harper visits SHS

On Monday, we were very honoured to welcome Sir Ewan Harper to SHS. Sir Ewan is the Chief Executive for UCST / ULT. During his short visit, Sir Ewan met with members of the School Council, The Generation Green Team and even managed to plant a tree for us. Sir Ewan showed us how it was worth taking the time and effort to plant a tree correctly so that it would grow and flourish.

Year 2 Project Work

Year 2 have recently been discovering all about castles. They enjoyed an interesting visit to Monkwearmouth Library then demonstrated their model making skills by producing their own structures back in school!

Congratulations

To the following children who are celebrating birthdays over the next few days: Christopher McIntosh, Gabrielle Johnson, Grace Young and Jacob Relf

Extend your child's learning

Lost Keys

A pair of small keys with coloured fobs were found in the ground floor school corridor. If any parents feel that they have lost these then please call at the school office.

School Inspection

Finally, most parents and children will now be aware that our school will be inspected on 8th and 9th February with a follow-up in March. As part of the inspection process, the team are keen to hear the views of parents and pupils. If you would like to contribute towards this then please follow the instructions in the letter recently sent home or via the link on this website.
