Year 4 Visit Washington Old Hall

As part of their studies, Year 4 visited Washington Old Hall this Wednesday to experience what a Tudor Banquet must have been like. The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the visit. Thank you to Mrs McVay for organising this and to the staff at Washington Old Hall.

Spring Music Assembly

Well done to Koosha, Zoe, Marc, Becky, Ruth, Naini, Emma, Louise, India, Kate, Christopher, Matthew, Bobby, Grace, Helen, Ruth, Michael, Alice and Alicia for producing a superb music assembly this week in front of their parents. The children played with so much professionalism, enthusiasm and concentration - they were a credit to the school and a delight to listen to!

Summer Performance

For our forthcoming junior school summer performance we would welcome contributions of fabrics, threads, ribbons and wools etc in greens, browns, yellows and oranges. All would be gratefully received by our budding artists!

Summer Uniform

By now, all parents should have received a letter reminding them that all children should be wearing the correct summer uniform upon their return to school on May 3rd. At Sunderland High School Juniors, we expect our pupils to aspire to the highest standards of appearance.  As part of this, we require all pupils to wear the appropriate Sunderland High School uniform. We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the school uniform policy, including those children who attend our Nursery. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and that it is clean and in good repair. Infant boys in particular should be wearing shorts of the plain variety and without additional side pockets. Girls should be wearing the correct summer dresses. We expect parents to name all items of clothing with sewn-in name tags or indelible pen as expensive uniform can often be mislaid by children. We thank you for your support in this matter.

Early Morning Club

Now that the weather has greatly improved, the early morning club will be supervised outdoors by the same members of staff. Should the weather be too wet or cold to do this then we will of course revert back to the school library. The early morning club operates from 8am until 8.30am. Could parents who use this facility please ensure that children are not left unsupervised at the school before 8am?

Advance Notice

We hope to be able to distribute the summer term calendars to parents before we break for the Easter holidays - they are presently at the printers. A key week to note is week commencing 20th June as many activities will take place then - especially our sports afternoons if the weather permits!
