Sporting Success!

Last week SHS had two football teams representing the school against Bow School in an away fixture. The Under 11 team had a magnificent 4-1 victory over Bow whilst the Under 10 team won 3-2 after being 1-0 down. It was a privilege and a pleasure to watch both teams and to see their determination to win through. Congratulations to both teams on a brilliant victory and thank you to Mr Rich for organising the fixture.

House Tag Rugby

As we move through the academic year, our school houses continue to challenge each other for the position and title of ‘winning house' in July. Contributing towards the overall points are several competitions and recently, the House Tag Rugby event took place.

1st Place - Drake House

2nd Place - Tiger House

3rd Place - Panther House

4th Place - Swift House

Congratulations to Drake House on their victory!

Congratulations

To the following children who will be celebrating birthdays over the next week: Molly Jewitt and Simran Batth.

Thank You

Many thanks to Mrs Duffy for generously donating books to our school library. If any other parents have any books that they no longer need that are in good condition then the school library would be very glad to receive these so that other children may enjoy them.

Health & Safety Issues

In the interests of H&S, parents are reminded that dogs and other animals are not allowed onto the Junior School site without prior permission.

In addition, all children who finish an after school activity should be safely handed over to parents at the end of the session by the tutor. It is essential that children are kept safe at all times. Could all parents please ensure that they arrive at school to collect their children in good time? If there is an unfortunate delay then please phone the school office before 5pm so that alternative arrangements can be made. Please be mindful of the fact that other staff have commitments too.

Year 2 Classroom Assistant

I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Miss Lauren Hughes as classroom assistant to Year 2. Miss Hughes has a first class honours degree in Childhood Studies, comes with excellent references and was particularly strong at interview. Miss Hughes is also interested in supporting after school activities. Miss Hughes was able to commence her duties from Monday 16th January so there was no break in support for the Year 2 children. Meanwhile, we are actively looking for a suitable replacement to deliver Speech & Drama classes at the Junior School.

After School Clubs

There are several after school clubs that are being delivered by outside coaches this term for which a nominal charge is made. Could all parents please ensure that payment is made by the third week at the absolute latest otherwise attendance at the club will not be possible. Outside coaches are not employed by the school and they give of their time freely to support our children in as many activities as possible but rely upon this work as an income.

Parents' Evening

A reminder that the next Junior School Parents' Meeting takes place on Monday 19th March (plus Tuesday 20th for some infant parents). A letter will be issued soon to all parents to remind you of this event. You will have the opportunity to discuss your child's progress since September with the class teacher and others who teach your child. As the evenings will begin as early as 3.50pm please note that there will be no after school clubs held on the Monday except those delivered by visiting staff. Tuesday classes will run as scheduled.
