Speech & Drama Classes

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Miss Elaine Shovlin as a Speech & Drama teacher who is able to deliver after school activities to children from Reception to Year 2 with a view to this progressing throughout the school over the coming years. In the meantime however, Mrs Kharko will continue to work with the existing Junior children as part of her class at Senior School. Miss Shovlin is LAMDA trained and has been involved in coaching children for exams. She is competent in teaching singing, dance, drama and musical theatre throughout the primary age range. Initially, there will be a speech & drama class for Reception children held on a Monday with Years 1&2 doing a similar class on the Friday. We are also introducing a new Musical Theatre class on a Thursday aimed at children from Year 1 to Year 6. The club is a great opportunity for children to combine the skills of singing, dancing and acting in a fun atmosphere. The focus of the lessons are to work with songs from famous West End Musicals (i.e. Lion King, Annie, Wicked, Oliver) while developing the skills of performance. Places for this after school activity are limited and are available on a first come first served basis. In order to secure your place, return the slip to the school office as soon as possible.

Child Booster Seats

If any parents have borrowed any of the booster seats from the entrance lobby, we would be grateful if these could be returned as soon as possible as we need these for the nursery children. Also, if any parents have any booster seats sitting in the garage that are no longer required, then the school would be very grateful to receive these for our mini buses and school outings.

Thank You

Many thanks to Mrs Royal for generously donating books and toys to the school. If any other parents have any books that they no longer need that are in good condition then the school library would be very glad to receive these so that other children may enjoy them.

Congratulations

To the following children who will be celebrating birthdays over the next week: Jamie Anderson

After School Classes

In the interests of safety and especially during these dark evenings, can all parents please ensure that they arrive in good time to collect their children at the end of after school activities or after school club sessions? All tutors have been asked to ensure that no-one is left behind on their own at the end of an activity. Should parents be unavoidably delayed then please ring the school office before 5pm so that alternative arrangements can be made. Whilst we will always endeavour to help, please also be mindful that staff also have their own family commitments.

Reception Visit

Last week, the children from Reception enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium at Tynemouth. The children saw all kinds of sea creatures as well as having the opportunity to touch a real live crab and a starfish. Of immense interest were the miniature monkeys, the waving seals and of course, the small sharks! Thank you to Mrs Costas for organising this visit!
